Saturday Sampler Back for 2010

Today was our first Saturday Sampler day for 2010. Below are our 4 colour ways with the first block. Don’t they all look fabulous!

Just to let anyone know that is doing it, there is a mistake in the pattern (how BAD of us on the first month,) in the cutting instructions it says to cut  B  at 4 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ and to cut E the same. These should be 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ to match the middle square at 4 1/2″. If anyone has already cut it out as the mistake size, don’t panic, just give us a call and we will help you to fix it.

we LOOOOVVVE this mag

We happen to have found the best machine quilting magazine even put out (well we think so anyway). We have been waiting for the new one to come in and……..IT’S ARRIVED!!!!! We have also managed to get a lot of back issues because they are all really excellent.  Not only do they have fantastic quilts and quilting ideas, but each issue touches on things that everyone kind of forgets such as tension, batting, thread, needles etc.

They are only $18.00 a mag and we truly think they are worth their weight in gold!!

What a cutie!!!

Ashleigh has been busy sewing this morning and made this really cute new dress. It is a ‘Izzy and Ivy’ pattern called Avery Olivia Jumper. It is so cute and little. This is a size 1 old, but the pattern goes up to 10 years old. The pattern was very well written which made it very easy to follow and quick to make. We have the patterns available in store or on our website.

MORE new books

We are for ever having new booking coming in. Here are two more that have just arrived. They are both for Jelly Rolls, (which are 40 2 1/2″ strips). They both are really nice and have gorgeous designs in them.

A little slice of home

This is such a cool new book. It’s by a British woman ( yes thats right, it took someone from over seas to make a book about our beautiful country). She came over for a Quilting Symposium and while she was here she took all these wonderful photos of this amazing country we live in, the Land of the Long White Cloud, New Zealand. She then went home and made AMAZINGLY COOL little quilts, all inspired by her photos.  It’s so nice to see what we as a country have inspired her to make. They are all very different and beautiful and also a great inspiration boost!

This book is called Glimpses of New Zealand.

Check out our website,  for some awesome quilts that we no longer need in the studio. They are ALL going for a really good price (really only the cost of fabric). So be in quick to get your self a good deal.

Also a quick note, our yearly Saturday Sampler programe is starting soon, so if you havn’t signed up yet and you would like to, you only have about a week to get them in. Remember that this is not only for locals, we are doing an out of town programme too! If you don’t know how it works, have a look on the website under the Saturday Sampler tab and all the info is there including photos of last years finished quilts and this years colour ways.

Fourth Generation Quilter

This is Sapphire Ward, my 20 month old grand daughter. She recently came over while I was quilting and when I wasn’t sitting at the table she managed to climb up on chair, put my glasses on and pretend she was quilting. She especially loves the buttons on the machine. Won’t be long and she will be making her first quilt.

Class is back!!

It’s so good to be back at the first class for the first term for 2010. With lots of familiar faces and lots a new ones too, I’m sure it will inspire everyone to create and make lots of new and exciting stuff (or carry on and finish some U.F.O’s). In this heat there’s nothing better to do than sit inside, in front of a fan of course, and SEW SEW SEW!!!!
